1st GBG Davao GeoWalk and MapUp

We are excited to kickoff 2014 with our first GeoWalk and MapUp!

GBG Davao will be spearheading the MapUp event on March 22, 2014 from 1PM - 5PM at JoBS Academy, LDL Building, C. Bangoy Street, Davao. Together with 25 mappers, we will be plotting the different establishments of the city.

What is a GeoWalk?

A GeoWalk is a type of MapUp where participants walk around a predefined area and, similar to a scavenger hunt, collect information about the real world to add to Google Maps once they’re back at a computer. A photo element can also be added. Consider taking photo spheres while out collecting other map data.

What is our Agenda?

• 12:45 PM - Assembly and Registration at JoBS Academy
• 1:00 PM - Briefing and Orientation
• 1:20 PM- GeoWalk Proper in predefined areas
• 3:00 PM - Mapping Session at JoBS Academy
• 5:00 PM - Closing Remarks / End of Event

What to Bring?

Mappers are required to bring the following:

• Mobile phone / Digital Camera to take photos
• Pens / Ballpens to list down information
• Umbrella, water and extra shirt (optional)
